The world's largest nitrogen-injection EOR project, led by PEMEX, Mexico's largest oil company, counts on Linde as the primary N
2 supplier. Linde is the leading supplier of CO
2 in North America and also designs, builds, owns, and operates on-site air-separation plants for nitrogen.
CO
2 or N
2:
Force oil from injection wells toward production wells
Maintain reservoir pressure
Increase flow using Huff-n-Puff techniques
CO2 Huff-n-Puff process can increase oil production from stripper and other low-volume wells by injecting into the oil-bearing formation a slug of CO2 at less than fracturing pressure, then shutting in the well for a time determined by bottom-hole pressure. This has yielded excellent results in light oil formations throughout the U.S.
Under certain conditions, CO
2 or N
2 can become miscible with crude, lowering its viscosity and thereby further enhancing recovery.
